The Wrong Stone is a beautifully written and illustrated picture book about being different.

Description

The Wrong Stone is a beautifully written and illustrated picture book about being different.

Using the theme of stones (A Pocket Full of Stones and Stones Have Feelings too!), the author Russell Deal walks us through a story where an architect is building a wall – with only perfect stones.  All the stones try and out their best faces forward, hiding their ugly bits but one stone didn’t seem to fit.

The Wrong Stone explores what it is like to be different, to stand out, to feel unwanted as well as valuing individuality, being true to self, diversity and all having value and a role to play.

The Wrong Stone is a book worth having at home and in schools as well as therapeutic environments.  It can stand alone, be a great introduction to the “stones” theme or be part of a unit of work on emotions of self and others.
